Elephant Bar

Sept 5, 2006, on a cold summer night in San Francisco International Airport, my bestfriend and I got all our stuff from the baggage area and hurried on to the exit. It was our first time to visit America so you can just imagine how excited we were. Not to mention, my fiance and I had been apart for a year and a half of long distance relationship so this was definitely one of those special moments in my life. We're finally together again. We got out around 9:30 p.m and most restaurants close around that time. My bestfriend and I parted ways, so it was time for my fiance to take me out to dinner. Yep, little choices around this time of the evening!

I remember my famous culture-shock statement was "Ooohh.. how nice your parking lot, it has A.C!"

toink!

Well, I came from a country where there's only 2 seasons, wet and dry! and super hottt.. okay, tropical weather. That sounds better :)

Anyway, back to dinner. So what's open? Not so far, only 5 minutes away, and has beautiful views of planes landing and calming water of the bay.. Elephant Bar! I don't even know what kind of food they serve, I'm sure it's not mediterranean either. All I know is they have scrumptious food.. the Shrimp Jambalaya which is my hubby's favorite is rich and saucy. Served with rice of course and some chicken on it. They also have Tri-tip Steak with Grilled Shrimp served with side vegetables and mashed potatoes.. Mmmm.. I always liked mine cooked medium rare. A lil hint of pink doesn't hurt! ;) Let's see.. the Lamb Shanks we're also good. They were soft to the bone baby! There are other main courses you will enjoy too.. If you like to nibble, then the Kona BBQ Pork Ribs is the way to go.

For the appetizer, now this you will not find on the menu, but definitely give it a try. Their Calamari, served with some shredded salad and a dip, is just addicting. I love the Shrimp Adventure Platter too.. it's like shrimpt festival hehe. Below you will find the famous Shrimp and Chicken Jambalaya, Shrimp Adventure Platter and my favorite Tri-Tip Steak with Grilled Shrimps:

Elephant Bar is definitely a great place to dine with everyone. From friends, family or with your date... even when you're alone. Just hang out at the bar, chill and keep those drinks coming up. Strawberry Daiquiri is what I always get, sweet and topped with real strawberry and whipped cream. My hubby prefers the strawberry mojito. What do you like? They might have it there too!

Last but not least... the dessert! No doubt my #1 choice is the Elephant Bar Ice Cream Mud Pie. It is very huge, it's probably good for 3 to 4 persons. The other bestseller is the Fudge Fudge Walnut Brownie. Lots of whipped cream, ice cream and chocolate syrup. Definitely a chocolate lover's dream.

To me, Elephant Bar is one of the Bay Area's hot spots. Perfect ambience, hot from the pot meals, good place to watch sports, I mean, what more can you ask for?:D
